Juan Diego Flórez: A worldstar in opera and concerts

Juan Diego Flórez began singing and playing Peruvian folk and pop music – and with stepping in at last minute at the Rossini Festival in Pesaro, 1996, his operatic debut was a triumph. This was the beginning of his stellar career. He was “an overnight sensation”. Since then he has made regular appearances at all the major opera houses.

In 2007 Juan Diego Flórez made history at the famous opera house La Scala in Milano when he broke a decades-long ban and gave the first encore in the theatre since 1933. The aria was “Ah! mes amis” known for its nine high Cs! Latest since then media noticed that he  is the successor of the great Luciano Pavarotti well known as the “King of high C”. Not only in opera productions but also in many fantastic concerts Juan Diego Flórez has proven that he is an outstanding concert-performer full of passion and personality. His repertoire ranges from Opera to Folk and Pop songs. He is able to entertain audiences like no other. And after his triumph at the PROMS in London the BBC recognized him as one of the best tenors in history …
